Recipe Highlights

  • 22 grams of protein before 8 a.m., no pan required.
  • Full-fat dairy, as the new guidelines wrote it — the fat is the point, not the compromise.
  • Three berries, three colors, and most of a day’s vitamin C.
  • Ten minutes, one bowl, and it travels in a jar.

What To Gather

  • Full-fat Greek yogurt: Look for two ingredients: milk and cultures. Skyr works; skip anything with added sugar.
  • Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries: Fresh in season, frozen-and-thawed the rest of the year — the juice becomes the sauce.
  • Toasted almonds or walnuts: Toasting is non-negotiable; raw nuts disappear, toasted ones announce themselves.
  • Honey and cinnamon: Optional. Taste the berries first — ripe ones don’t need help.

Tip · Our Special Step

Toast a week’s worth of nuts at once: 8 minutes at 350°F, cooled completely, jarred. The morning version of this recipe is then exactly 90 seconds long.

Why Full-Fat Is Back

The updated guidelines moved whole-milk dairy back onto the foundation tier: the fat slows digestion, carries flavor, and keeps you full until lunch. The full story is in The New Guidelines in Five Minutes.

What To Serve It With

It’s breakfast on its own, or the cool finish after the Smoky Grilled Chicken Thigh Platter on a summer night. Building a bigger brunch? Put it next to eggs and the rest of the breakfast collection.

Storing Leftovers

Assembled bowls keep overnight — the berries bleed into the yogurt, which is either a flaw or the best part. Keep the nuts separate until serving; nobody has ever wanted a soft almond.
